Senior Accounting Analyst
Overview of Responsibilities:
The Senior Accounting Analyst will be integral in supporting the accounting operations for a small, but exceptionally fast-growing company. Primary responsibilities include accounts receivable and accounts payable for our natural gas sector, daily and monthly general ledger account reconciliations, intercompany and month-end closing activities, and financial reporting and analysis for stand-alone portfolios and consolidating entities. As the Company continues to grow at a rapid pace, we anticipate that this role will take on new responsibilities as opportunities arise.
Responsibilities:
Perform full cycle accounting for assigned entities and/or portfolios
Correspond with various natural gas counterparties to reconcile and resolve discrepancies for our wholesale natural gas trades
Perform research and correspond with internal trade operations team to reconcile trade statements with external counterparties and resolve discrepancies
Utilize various pipeline systems to verify, record and report on storage/inventory volumes. Compute and record mark-to-market adjustment on a monthly basis
Compute state taxes owed and prepare various state tax returns for certain natural gas activities
Perform detailed monthly profit & loss analysis for assigned balance sheet/income statement accounts
Reconcile and monitor cash balances for various accounts and reconcile bank accounts daily
Examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance with GAAP and to internal reporting standards
Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
Maintain accounting controls by following existing processes and procedures and recommend revisions when inefficiencies or inaccuracies are identified.
Provide back up and assistance to the Controller & Accounting Manager with financial report preparation, state information and tax reporting, regulatory compliance, audits and any other applicable tasks

Job requirements
3+ years of Accounting or relevant experience, CPA preferred
Excellent ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy, fast growth environment
Self-starter and ability to work independently without formalized training and supervision
Excellent Excel skills including lookups and complex formulas
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within Accounting & Finance
Flexibility and willingness to work closely and learn within a team environment
International accounting and state tax experience is a plus, but not required
