This role sits within our Retail Energy Division and reports to the division GM. English fluency is required.
Position Impact
In this role, you'll lead our internal tools engineering team in driving digital transformation by developing modern, scalable systems that power our operations. Leveraging low-code technologies and custom development where appropriate, you will build new, maintainable solutions to fully replace legacy systems, ensuring our platforms are efficient, agile, and future-proof. As our Head of Internal Platforms & Automation, you will reimagine how technology enables every aspect of our business.

Areas of Responsibility
Team Leadership (40%)
- Lead, mentor, and scale a team of engineers while recruiting top talent.
- Cultivate a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Hire, onboard, and develop high-performing team members to meet evolving business needs.
- Partner with leadership and operations teams to understand pain points and deliver impactful solutions.
Technical Strategy & Execution (40%)
- Architect and build new, scalable solutions that fully replace outdated platforms.
- Identify and implement the right mix of low-code and select traditional development to optimize business processes.
- Develop seamless integrations between our software, CRM, customer support tools, and back-office systems.
- Define and implement engineering standards prioritizing scalability, maintainability, and ease of future enhancements.
- Leverage automation and workflow tools to reduce manual inefficiencies and improve business agility.
Process & Delivery (20%)
- Establish efficient development workflows, balancing speed with software quality.
- Drive sprint planning and execution, ensuring timely delivery of high-impact projects.
- Monitor and improve system performance using data-driven insights.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging business metrics and user feedback
About You
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of software development experience, including at least 1 year in a leadership role.
- Proven experience implementing low-code technologies (e.g., Zoho Creator, OutSystems, Retool, Mendix) alongside custom-built software solutions.
- Strong ability to design and develop scalable, maintainable internal tools and business process automation.
- Hands-on experience integrating APIs, cloud platforms (AWS or similar), and third-party tools.
- Comfortable acting as a player-coach, contributing technically while leading and mentoring a team.
- Excellent English communication skills and ability to partner cross-functionally to align technology with business needs.
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with Zoho ecosystem, EDI protocols, and third-party integrations.
- Experience in business process automation, CRM customizations, and workflow optimization.
- Ability to define long-term technology strategies focused on scalable, maintainable development.
- Strong background in software modernization efforts and system migrations.
- Experience with reporting, business intelligence (BI), and data analytics tools to enhance decision-making and operational insights.
Working Hours & Location
Our office is located in the El Poblado area of Medellín. The working hours for this role are aligned with the company’s Austin HQ (Central Time) throughout the year.
