Position Overview
As the Business Operations Manager, you’ll work in the exciting US energy industry leading our Medellin, Colombia team and working alongside US-based operations managers. You’ll combine people leadership with operational oversight, ensuring that daily processes, such as trading operations, risk, and credit analysis, are executed accurately and efficiently.
You’ll mentor and guide your team while staying close to day-to-day operations to understand and improve workflows, tools, and performance.
You don’t need prior experience in energy; we’ll train you on the technical aspects, but you should bring a strong background in management, analytical thinking, and process optimization. This role has high growth potential as we continue to scale our global and specifically Colombia based team.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
Lead and mentor a high-performing operations team based in Medellín, focused on trading operations, business analysis, and credit & risk.
Train and coach analysts on business and analytical skills to enhance performance and long-term growth.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
Promote process optimization and digital transformation, improving automation, reporting accuracy, and information flow across departments.
Partner closely with senior leaders in the US to align business goals, process improvements, and technology adoption.
Represent the team in company meetings, highlighting performance and identifying opportunities for innovation.
Operations & Process Management
Oversee daily operational activities related to natural gas trading, including scheduling and data management.
Collaborate with traders and analysts to ensure timely and accurate transaction execution.
Identify inefficiencies and lead automation or process-improvement initiatives.
Maintain compliance and ensure data accuracy across internal systems.
Support business continuity by coordinating with partners and stakeholders in the US.
Note: Occasional evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations (approximately six times per year) may be required depending on operational needs.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in operations, finance, or risk management, including at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work with data and KPIs.
Proven experience leading multidisciplinary analytical teams in fast-paced corporate environments.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage stakeholders across countries and time zones.
Experience in industries such as energy, financial services, consulting, logistics, or manufacturing.
Interest in learning about the US energy and gas markets; previous experience is a plus but not required.
